Eos (Ἠώς) is ancient Greek for ‘dawn’. We chose this name as an allegory for the ‘new dawn’ which is to come after the night of modernity. As such Eos is our imprint for books which elucidate the failings, shortcomings and spiritual bankruptcy of modern society, and propose alternatives to its social, cultural, political and economic paradigms.
Examples of issues Eos deals with critically include the decline of moral and family values, consumerism, globalisation, loss of ethnic and cultural identity, and social upheaval; and the mass exploitation of the environment and animals, as well as the dehumanisation brought about by global capitalism.
Examples of alternatives to the modern system within Eos’ scope include traditional culture, music and art, folk customs, and the bona fide religious traditions as regenerative forces; and revolutionary action, metapolitical strategy for reform, and the establishment of self-sufficient, organic alternative communities.
