ABOUT ITP

Integral Tradition Publishing was established to create awareness of the eternal, transcendental Truth contained in all authentic traditions, and the problems, flaws and hypocrisies of modern Western society. We wish to do this by publishing and distributing materials on traditionalism which show the discrepancy between the light of the Tradition and the darkness of modernity. By creating such an awareness, even in a small number of people, we hope to help lay the foundation for a return to Tradition.

The Tradition
‘Traditionalism’ consists primarily of five doctrines: Firstly, ‘there is a physical order of things and a metaphysical one; there is a mortal nature and an immortal one; there is the superior realm of “being” and the inferior realm of “becoming”’ (Julius Evola: Revolt Against the Modern World, p 3.). Secondly, there is a ‘transcendental unity of religions’, which is to say that although the individual traditions are different in ‘form’ they share the same transcendental essence, inherited from a primordial tradition. This tradition is referred to as ‘the Tradition’. Thirdly, it is possible for man to transcend the inferior, contingent order by applying himself to an orthodox tradition, such as, for example, the Vedic-Aryan, Islamic or Catholic, under the guidance of an initiatory institution. Fourthly, it is possible for the state to transcend the inferior, contingent order, thereby pulling society as a whole up to a higher level. Such societies, ‘pervaded’ by the ‘superior nature’, were always organised in a feudal hierarchy and their leaders possessed not only a mere political power, but also a higher, meta-political one. Finally, there are four ages in every cycle of meta-history: the ‘golden age’, the ‘silver age’, the ‘bronze age’ and the ‘iron age’ (also known as the kali-yuga). We are presently in the kali-yuga, the lowest of the ages.

Societies of past ages had an effective ‘link’ with the transcendent order. This link was maintained by various traditional institutions, including the state. The supra-rational, superior nature pervading those societies empowered their members to achieve a degree of self-mastery and spiritual realisation within their capabilities. In modern times this power has been lost. Virtually everyone acts out of desire and barely anyone can conceive of anything superior to profane, material life. According to the Bhagavad Gita such societies are completely uncivilised and the men who constitute them are ‘nara-adhana’; ‘the lowest among men’ (A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada: Bhagavad-Gita As It Is, vers 7.15, p 386).

How are we going to ‘lay the foundation’ for a restoration of Tradition? René Guénon wrote: ‘Those who are qualified to speak in the name of a traditional doctrine do not need to discuss it with the ‘profane’ or to engage in polemics; they have only to expound the doctrine as it is, for such as can understand it, and, at the same time, to denounce error wherever it arises, and expose it by casting upon it the light of true knowledge.’ (Réne Guénon: The Crisis of the Modern World, pp 66f). ITP will be a vehicle enabling the true representatives of tradition to speak without engaging in apologies or debates. We will publish these representatives’ work and endeavour to bring it to the attention of those who can understand the traditional doctrine. We will thereby enlighten the minds of the best - that is, those who can really make a difference.

Jacob Christiansen

Jacob Christiansen studies Science of Religions at the University of Aarhus, Denmark. His interest and expertise spans from Western esoterism to Vedic theology and include religio-political movements, such as the New Right. He has studied Sanskrit language and written on Aryosophy, Theosophy, and the Nordic and Vedic traditions. He has also written articles and reviews for several magazines, including KulturOrgan Skadinaujo, a leading publication on Scandinavian culture, history and religion. His responsibilities in ITP include maintaining the web-site, and selection, editing and layout of new publications.

 

Patrick Boch

Patrick Boch graduated in Law in 2006 at the University of Buckingham. His interests include traditional jurisprudence and statecraft, particularly the traditional doctrine of state legitimacy, on which he wrote a dissertation for his LL.B. Other interests include the Vedic tradition and Sanskrit language. He is responsible for proof-reading new publications, book keeping and other legal and administrative matters.

 

John Morgan

John Morgan graduated with a degree in literature from the University of Michigan. He is at present primarily interested in comparative religion from a traditionalist perspective, mysticism, and the European New Right, and in how the ideas of the latter might be adapted to the North American situation. He is also engaged in studying Islamic mysticism (Sufism) and Islamic political theory as a still-living, active remnant of the Primordial Tradition. For ITP he is responsible for proof-reading, editing and preparing texts for publication, and other ad hoc matters. He has also assisted in the preparation of texts by Savitri Devi and Julius Evola for other publishers.

 

Sergio Knipe

Sergio Knipe is currently completing a Ph.D. on Greco-Roman blood sacrifice at the University of Cambridge (England). His main interests, beside sacrificial practice and religious transformation in Late Antiquity, include (neo-)paganism, Neoplatonist philosophy, Hinduism, radical environmentalism and modern traditionalist thought from Donoso Cortés and de Maistre to the present day. He is working for ITP as a proof-reader and translator.

 

David Wingfield

David Wingfield formerly worked with Avaris Press as PR and Marketing Manager and was a sub-editor for their journal “The Diabolist: Journal Of The Left Hand Path, Volume 2”. He is a keen researcher with an interest in European mythology and Traditional Religions. His especial field is the shadowy world of the European Trickster Mythos and he produced his major work “Missa Asinorum: A Synthesis Of The European Trickster Mythos” in 2005. As a fellow of the Pythagoras Society he has given talks at various European Culture and Mythology conferences, including talks at Jagielonian University, Krakow and Karlovi University, Prague. David has also written for several journals on subjects such as Crossroads Myths, Vulpine Tricksters and Futurism. Within Integral Tradition Publishing, David is involved with proof reading, production of marketing material and is the Editor of the upcoming Radical Traditionalist journal “The Initiate”. David lives in Nottinghamshire, England with his wife and young daughter. Aside from writing, in his spare time he enjoys reading, walking, cooking and folk music.

 

Martin Häggkvist

Martin Häggkvist is a writer and musician currently on the way to complete his Swedish magisterexamen (approximately the equivalent of a master´s degree) in history at the University of Umeå. He has written texts for a variety of Scandinavian publications, including the Swedish literary magazine Subaltern. His topics of interest are perennialism in general, with a specific focus on the Indo-European traditions. He is currently involved in Integral Traditions Publishing as a translator, as well as a contributor to "The Initiate".
